2. Thomas Pridgen was born after 1740 in Edgecombe Co., NC.² He died after 1816 in Greene Co., NC.⁴ Greene County was formerly Dobbs County. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, serving in the North Carolina Continental Army, 8th Regiment. He was identified as a resident of Edgecombe County in surviving pay vouchers. (Al Jones)

Thomas Pridgen and Martha Ruffin were married on 15 Jun 1763 in Edgecombe Co., NC.⁴ Martha Ruffin (daughter of Samuel Ruffin and Sarah Lamon MacWilliams) died after 1796.⁴ Thomas Pridgen and Martha Ruffin had the following children:
