The Abel family of Gläsendorf in Kreis Grottkau was founded by Anton Abel and his wife Anna Maria (nee Felss). Anton was a member of the Abel family of Krackwitz in neighboring Kreis Neisse, while Anna Maria was a member of the Felss family of Gläsendorf and Heinrichau in neighboring Kreis Münsterberg. Anton was the master miller at the upper mill [Obermüllermeister] in Gläsendorf (there were three mills on the stream flowing through Gläsendorf, and the upper mill was upstream of the other two). Anton's descendants eventually operated all three mills in Gläsendorf. Related families include the following: Finger, Kunisch, Weinitschke, Buchal, Rücker, Müller, Rother, Stanke, Freitag, Kretschmer, and Zebe.
