Marvin Leroy Bond

   Marvin Leroy Bond, 84, died Saturday, Feb. 18, [1989] at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton, Oregon.
   Mr. Bond was born Sept. 1, 1904, in Bloody Creek, OK to Albert and Nannie M. (Neal) Bond. He was raised on the Indian Nation in Oklahoma. At the age of five, he went on a trail drive with his father from Colorado to Texas.
   Mr. Bond played a lot of high school sports including baseball. He graduated from high school in Crowley.
   After graduation, he had a number of different jobs as a construction worker on such projects as the Hudson River Tunnel and at Las Vegas casinos.
   Mr. Bond was a member of the 13th Cavalry at Fort Riley, KS. He loved to hunt, fish and officiate at high school sporting events - baseball, football and basketball.
   He moved to Twin Falls, Idaho where he met and married [his wife] on June 4, 1935. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 21, 1965.
   There they made their first home while Mr. Bond was employed as a U.S. Marshall, city police officer and member of the fire department.
   Mr. Bond moved to Leavenworth, WA where he managed and was the sole employee of the Rule Electric Association.
   Mr. Bond moved to Dayton, WA for five years, then to Pendleton, OR where he worked for the Pacific Power and Light until his retirement in Sept. 1969. He was active in Little League and was president of the Little League Association. He helped create the Robert Whitehead Babe Ruth field. He was associated with the Pendleton Round-Up for 40 years. He helped start the Round-Up Hall of Fame. After his retirement, he ran his own business, Marvin Bond Enterprises, with his wife until Feb. 18, 1989.
   Mr. Bond was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Pendleton, OR.
   Mr. Bond was survived by his wife; three sons; one daughter; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by a son and a grandson.
