John Edward Greene
Nickerson, Kansas, 10 August 1908

   John Edward Green was born March 26, 1883, and died near Preston, Kansas, August 6, 1908, aged 25 years, 4 months and 10 days. He was sick but three days with blood poison, caused from a small bruised place on a finger.
   He was married January 1, 1908 to Miss Lela Koons, daughter of S.W. Koons, with whom he lived happily during the few months of their wedded life. Death is a hard master. He would take from us our best, but he can not ever mar memory. It will serve as balm to the wounded heart. Blessed memory!
   The body was brought to Nickerson to the home of his grandmother, Mrs. Caroline Greene. The funeral services were held in the Christian church, Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Van Dolan, and interrment made in the Nickerson cemetery.
   Mrs. Green's many friends extend to her their heartfelt sympathy in this her sad bereavement.
