Dr. F. W. Koons, a member of the staff of the Hertzler Clinic from 1930 until his retirement a few years ago, died Wednesday night at the Halstead hospital after a ten day illness. Born March 30, 1872 in Wayne County, Ohio, Dr. Koons was 79 years of age at the time of his death. He was a past president of the Harvey County Medical Association; a past master of the Masonic lodge at Nickerson, Kans., was active in Masonic circles in Halstead; and had participated in civic and community affairs for many years.
Surviving members of the family include his widow, Mrs. Alberta Koons of the home; a daughter; a grandson; and a brother, C.B. Koons, of Little River, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian church, with the Rev. Richard S. Klein officiating.
The Halstead Lodge No. 46 A.F. & A.M. will participate in the services. Kaufman Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Final resting place will be in the family lot in the Halstead cemetery.

Business houses on main street will close Saturday afternoon at 2:30 for the services.
