Elda Florence (Spring) Armstrong

Mrs. Joe C. (Elda F.) Armstrong, 70, 1915 Colorado Ave., died in a La Junta hospital early Thursday morning, May 18.
Funeral will be Saturday, May 20, at 2 p.m., at Peacock-Green Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Fay Curtis will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
Mrs. Armstrong was born in Dayton, Ind., April 1, 1902. She moved from Indiana with her parents to Grove, Okla., as a small girl, then later moved to Iola, Kan.
She was married to Joe C. Armstrong at Chanute, Kan., Sept. 19, 1922. The family moved to La Junta in 1937 when he was transferred here with the Santa Fe Railroad. The Armstrongs lived at 316 Raton Ave., for a number of years until moving to their present address.
Mrs. Armstrong was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen-United Transportation Union, Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen-UTU and the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Joe C., of the home; one son; two daughters; two brothers, Otto E. Spring, Okmulgee, Okla.; Clare Spring, Chanute, Kan.; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Hardin, Muskogee, Okla.; seven grandchildren.
