Descendants of William Printy

Generation One

1. William1 PRINTY was born in 1749 in Ireland.1 He married Rhoda Coleman, daughter of *William Coleman.2,3 William died in 1826 in Brown County, Ohio.4 He was buried in the Union Cemetery, Shinkle's Ridge, Lewis Township, Sec. A, lot 1, grave 1, Brown County, Ohio.5

He enlisted in the Revolutionary War in 1775 in New Jersey. William served under Capt. Brearly and Col. Maxwell of the 2nd N. J. Regt. He was at the battle of Three Rivers. William re-enlisted for 3 years in the same company under Capt. Yard who resigned. He was then commanded by Capt. Phillips and Col. Shreve. He was then at the battle of Short Hills and Brandywine.6 He ended military service in 1779.7 He appeared on the tax list in 1786 in Hunterdon, New Jersey; A William Prenty was on the List of rateables in the township of Maidenhead, taken in the month of August.8 He appeared on the tax list in 1795 in Burlington, New Jersey; A William Printy was on the List of Rateables in the Township of Nottingham, with the Assessments made thereon in the month of September, Seventeen hundred & Ninety five.9 William and his family moved to Mason, Kentucky, in 1796.10 He appeared on the census of 1810 in Mason, Kentucky; [It seems likely that this William Printy is the above William].

Rhoda COLEMAN was born in Sweden.11

Generation Two

2. Anne2 PRINTY (William1) married Nathan Sidwell, son of Hugh Sidwell III and Ann Haines, on 21 July 1798 in Mason County, Kentucky.12 A permission note expressing satisfaction for the marriage of Anne and Nathan was signed by William Printy and Levi Sidwell.13 The marriage bond for Nathan Sidwell and Anne Printy was signed by Nathan Sidwell and Levi Sidwell.14

Nathan SIDWELL was born 7, 9mo., 1757 in West Nottingham Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.15 He married Eleanor Cook, daughter of John Cook and Rebecca Kirk, 5, 5 mo., 1779 in Chester County, Pennsylvania; They went West.16 He left a will on 6 April 1830 in Mason County, Kentucky; Click here to read a copy of Nathan's will.17 Nathan died in 1831 in Mason County, Kentucky.18

3. Jesse2 PRINTY (William1) was born in 1784 in Trenton, New Jersey.30,31 He married Mary York in 1806.32,33 Jesse died in 1882.34

Jesse was a farmer. He appeared on the census of 1850 in Brown County, Ohio; Jesse and Mary were living in Pleasant Township. Also living in their household was Caroline Lowe, age 7, born in Pennsylvania. [Living in the next census dwelling was John Printy, age 31, from Pennsylvania and his wife Elizabeth. They had a son, Thomas H].35 He appeared on the census of 1860 in Brown County, Ohio; Jesse and Mary were living in the Lyons household in Pleasant Township.36

Mary YORK was born in 1786 in Pennsylvania.37,38 Mary died in 1872.39

5. *William C.2 PRINTY (William1) was born between 1799 and 1800 in Kentucky.40 He married *Sarah Caroline Titus in 1826 in Brown, Ohio. He married Priscilla Chappell on 5 October 1834 in Clark, Indiana.41

[note: the marriage to Sarah Caroline Titus was taken from MK's email to Randy Prunty; the children listed under Sarah and Priscilla was based on the marriage dates]. *William C. was a farmer. He appeared on the census of 1850 in Clark County, Indiana; William, Prescilla, and children Sally, Thomas, William, Israel, Franklin, Amanda, John, Cheveral, Priscilla, and Nancy were living in Charleston Township. Also living in their household was Addison Chappell, age 24, born in Indiana.42 He appeared on the census of 1860 in Clark County, Indiana; William, Priscilla, and children Israel C., James F., Amanda M., John, Shivrail, Priscilla, and Nancy were living in Monroe Township. Also living in their household was Isaac Watson, age 30, born in Indiana.43

6. Aaron3 SIDWELL (Anne2Printy, William1) was born in 1800 in Mason County, Kentucky.54 He married Nancy True on 1 March 1824 in Mason County, Kentucky.55 Aaron died on 8 October 1854 in Mason County, Kentucky.56

He appeared on the census of 27 September 1850 in Mason County, Kentucky; Living in Aaron and Nancy's household were their children Susan Jane, Elizabeth, Rhoda, Mary H., Nathan, James, Deborah, John B., Isaac, Sarah, and Martha. Also living with them were William Sidwell, age 24 and Harriet True Booten, Nancy's sister, and Harriet's son, William Booten.57

Nancy TRUE was born [about] 1808 in Kentucky.58

The 11 known children of Aaron3 Sidwell and Nancy True all born in Mason County, Kentucky, were as follows:

9. Jacob3 SIDWELL (Anne2Printy, William1) was born [about] 1807 in Mason County, Kentucky.75 He married Margaret Haughey, daughter of Thomas Haughey, on 31 October 1832 in Mason County, Kentucky.76

He was a farmer. Jacob appeared on the census of 17 August 1850 in Mason County, Kentucky; Living with Jacob and Margaretta were their children Lydia A. John T., Sarah, Isabella, Margaret, Jasper M., Mary, and Susan.77 He appeared on the census of 26 July 1860 in the Lower District, Maysville, Mason County, Kentucky; Living with Jacob and Margaretta were their children John, Sarah, Isabella, Jasper, Margaret, Mary, Susan, and Samuel.78 Jacob appeared on the census of 16 July 1870 in the Germantown Precinct, Germantown, Mason County, Kentucky; Margaret died in 1868. Living with Jacob were his children Isabella, John T. and his wife Elizabeth, Jasper and his wife Alice, Margaret, Mary, Sue, and Samuel. John and Jasper were recently married and sometime before 1880 established households of their own.79

Margaret HAUGHEY also went by the name of Margaretta. She was born on 21 March 1809 in Kentucky; [The 1820 Mason County Census Index shows a Thomas Haughey, the 1830 Index shows a Thomas Haughey in the Western District and the 1840 Index shows a Thomas Haughey in the Northern District. It would appear likely that this Thomas is Margaret's father.].80 Margaret died on 22 August 1868 in Mason County, Kentucky, at age 59.81 She was buried in the Haughey Family Cemetery; the cemetery is located on the old R.R. Haughey farm on Moyer Rd. in Western Mason County.82

10. Joseph3 SIDWELL (Anne2Printy, William1) was born [about] 1810 in Mason County, Kentucky.97 He married Julia F. Masterson, daughter of Jeremiah Masterson, on 4 January 1834 in Mason County, Kentucky.98 He married Fidella (?).99

Joseph was a farmer. He appeared on the census of 7 September 1850 in Spencer County, Indiana; Joseph, Julia and their children Francis M., Jeremiah M., Aaron M., Salina, Malek, Jerome M. were living in Grass Township.100 Joseph appeared on the census of 1870 in Spencer County, Indiana; At this time Fidella is living in Joseph's household; [It isn't known what happened to Julia]. The children are Mandar, Joseph, Julia, and William.101 He appeared on the census of 1880 in Spencer County, Indiana; Joseph, Fidella and their children Joseph, Julia, William O., and Elizabeth were living in Hammond Township.102

Julia F. MASTERSON was born [about] 1816 in Kentucky.103

11. Edgar M.3 SIDWELL (Anne2Printy, William1) was born [about] 1819 in Mason County, Kentucky.117 He married Mary Reeves on 5 January 1842 in Mason County, Kentucky.118

Edgar M. was a farmer. He witnessed the marriage of Deborah "Debby" Sidwell and John Leach on 11 December 1844 in Mason County, Kentucky.119 He witnessed the marriage of Sarah P. Sidwell and Lisbon Lane on 3 April 1845 in Mason County, Kentucky.120 He appeared on the census of 1850 in Johnson County, Illinois; Edgar, Mary, and their children Melvina, America, Mary J., and Edgar M. were living in the South 2nd District.121 He appeared on the census of 1860 in Spencer County, Indiana; Edgar, Mary and children Melvina, America, Mary J., Edgar, Albert, and unknown name were living in Grass Township, Post Office Rockport.122

Mary REEVES was born [about] 1823 in Mason County, Kentucky.123

The six known children of Edgar M.3 Sidwell and Mary Reeves were as follows:

13. Mahlon C.3 SIDWELL (Anne2Printy, William1) was born [about] 1821 in Mason County, Kentucky.130 He married Martha Ann Langford on 26 December 1839 in Spencer County, Indiana.131 He married Mary Jane Frost in Rice County, Minnesota.132

Mahlon C. was a farmer and stone mason. He appeared on the census of 5 September 1850 in Spencer County, Indiana; Mahlon, Martha, and their children Wm., Jefferson, Samuel, and James Noble were living in Grass Township. Also living with them was Sarah J. Wine, age 22 born in Indiana.133 He appeared on the census of 1870 in Rice County, Minnesota; [Mahlon's wife Martha didn't appear on this census] Mahlon, Mary, and children Noble, Delia, Andrew, and Nathan were living in Northfield.134 He appeared on the census of 12 June 1880 in Rice County, Minnesota; Mahlon, Mary and children Noble J., Andrew M., and grandson Harrie were living in the city of Northfield.135

Martha Ann LANGFORD was born [about] 1824 in Indiana.136

17. Rachel3 PRINTY (Jesse2, William1) was born in 1809.148 She married Robert Lyon in 1841.149

Robert LYON was born in 1804.150 Robert died in 1854.151

18. *Jesse3 PRINTY (Jesse2, William1) was born between 1817 and 1818 in Ohio.158 He married Mary A. (?).

[note: no proof that he is the son of Jesse Printy]. *Jesse was a laborer and horticulturalist. He appeared on the census of 1850 in Hamilton County, Ohio; Jesse, Mary, and their children William, Ann, and John were living in Columbia Township. Also living in their household was Fred Lance, age 17, born in Germany.159 He appeared on the census of 1860 in Hamilton County, Ohio; Jesse, Mary A., and their children William L., Anne E., John M., Emma C., and Katy A. were living in Columbia Township.160

Mary A. (?) was born between 1815 and 1816 in Ohio.

19. William Coleman3 PRINTY (*John2, William1) was born between 1814 and 1815. He married America Sidwell on 26 January 1839 in Mason, Kentucky. He married Louisa (?).

[note: Information from MK's email to Randy Prunty; need source for marriage]. William Coleman was was a stone mason. He appeared on the census of 1850 in Brown County, Ohio; William, America, and their children George, Thomas, and William were living in Ripley, Union Township. Also living in their household was Elizabeth Reeves, age 16, born in Ohio. He appeared on the census of 1860 in Bracken County, Kentucky; W. C., Louisa, and children George W., William B., Arosina, John, Minerva, America, and Ann were living in Dist 1., Brooksville P.O.164

America SIDWELL was born [about] 1816 in Kentucky.165
