2. David2 ROSS Sr (James1) was born circa 1784 in Ireland. He was among the first from Harrison County to enlist in the War of 1812-15 and escaped unhurt. He married Elizabeth Smith on 29 Jul 1812. He died in 1852.

Elizabeth SMITH was born in Kentucky. She died in 1849.

3. David3 ROSS Jr (David2, James1) was born on 5 Dec 1823 in Harrison County, Kentucky. Biographical Sketch:

David Ross, farmer, P.O. Shady Nook; is a native of Harrison County, where he was born Dec. 5, 1823, his grandfather, James Ross, was a native of Ireland, when he emigrated about 1787 and settled in Harrison County; he was one of its first settlers, his father, David Ross, Sr., was but two and a half years old when he came to Kentucky, being in the vigor of manhood when the war of 1812-15 broke out, he was among the first to enlist from Harrison County; he escaped unhurt and lived until 1852. David Ross, Jr., was raised on a farm; he learned the carpenter's and cooper's trades, he gained a common school education by his own industry; on the 2nd of Oct. 1851, he married Dulcena, daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Orr) Paxton, and granddaughter of Jno. Orr, Esq., of Nicholas County; he has five living children: Mary, born June 23, 1843, and married W. H. Pope, Jno. T., Sept. 10, 1854, Granville, May 3, 1857; Wm Yancey, April 10, 1863; Victor, Nov 30, 1869. In 1846, Mr. Ross enlisted in the Mexican war under Capt. Jno. Shawhan, Col.Humphrey Marshall's 1st Kentucky Cavalry and served twelve months; he was in the battle of Buena Vista, under Gen Taylor and acted principally as scout and guard; in 1878, he was elected to the Magistracy of Sylvan Dell Precinct, over Lafayette Davis, which office he now holds; he is a member of the Republican Christian Church; politics Democrat.
David Ross Jr married Dulcena Paxton, daughter of Thomas Paxton and Margaret Orr, on 2 Oct 1851 in Harrison County, Kentucky. He died on 17 Apr 1908 in Harrison County, Kentucky, at age 84.

Dulcena PAXTON was born on 5 Jun 1832. She died on 4 Jul 1880 in Harrison County, Kentucky, at age 48.

4. Joseph3 ROSS (David2, James1) was born on 12 Oct 1825 in Harrison County, Kentucky. He married Lucretia Benson in Jun 1854 in Bath County, Kentucky. He died on 7 Jan 1896 in Harrison County, Kentucky, at age 70. He was buried in the Salem Church Cemetery, Harrison County, Kentucky.

Lucretia BENSON was born on 12 Feb 1838. She died on 7 Nov 1923 in Harrison County, Kentucky, at age 85. She was buried in the Salem Church Cemetery, Harrison County, Kentucky.

    Fannie Davis PHILLIPS was born in 1862 in Harrison County, Kentucky.1 The 1900 Harrison County census stated that Fannie had 10 children, seven living. Her father, Perry Phillips, was living in their household.1

  •     16.  iii.   James D was born in 1858. He married Sarah M. Padgett. He died in 1925 in Harrison County, Kentucky. He was buried in the Salem Church Cemetery, Harrison County, Kentucky.
    Sarah M. PADGETT was born in 1862. She was buried in the Salem Church Cemetery, Harrison County, Kentucky.

  •     17.  iv.   Nehemiah was born in 1860. He married Emaline Mullen, daughter of Thomas Mullen and Sallie (--?--). He died on 17 Nov 1921 in Harrison County, Kentucky. He was buried in the Salem Church Cemetery, Harrison County, Kentucky.
    Emaline MULLEN was born on 18 Apr 1865 in Kentucky. Emaline was raised in the home of Lorenzo Dow McCauley. She died on 28 Nov 1940 in Harrison County, Kentucky, at age 75. She was buried in the Salem Church Cemetery, Harrison County, Kentucky.

  •     18.  v.   Joseph Jefferson was born in 1863. He married Jennie McCauley. He died in 1949 in Harrison County, Kentucky. He was buried in the Salem Church Cemetery, Harrison County, Kentucky.
    Jennie MCCAULEY was born in 1868. She died in 1941 in Harrison County, Kentucky. She was buried in the Salem Church Cemetery, Hamilton, Harrison County, Kentucky.

  •     19.  vi.   William was born circa 1865. He married Martha Williams, daughter of James Williams.

  •     20.  vii.   Larry Milton married Mattie Knight. He was born in 1868.

  •     21.  viii.   George Harmon was born on 29 Aug 1870. He died on 25 May 1892 in Harrison County, Kentucky, at age 21. He was buried in the Salem Church Cemetery, Harrison County, Kentucky.

  •     22.  ix.   Hallie May was born circa 1873. She married Van Williams, son of James Williams and Polly (--?--). She married Enoch Williams, son of James Williams and Polly (--?--), circa 1896. In 1910, the mother of Hallie, Lucretia, was living with her and Enoch. The brother of Hallie, James D. and his wife Salley, were living next door.
    Enoch WILLIAMS was born circa 1880 in Kentucky.2


6. Eliza Jane3 ROSS (David2, James1) was born on 30 Oct 1831 in Kentucky.3 She married David Florence, son of William 'Billie' Florence Sr. and Christina 'Chrissy' Teal, on 3 May 1848 in Kentucky. The death certificate for George Washington Florence, son of David Florence, states that the maiden name of his mother was Eliza Jane Ross. The informant was his wife, Laura.4 She died on 16 May 1904 in Kentucky at age 72.3 She was buried in the Republican Church Cemetery, Harrison County, Kentucky.3

David FLORENCE was born on 31 Dec 1825 in Harrison County, Kentucky.3 David died on 12 Feb 1903 in Harrison County, Kentucky, at age 77. (an unknown value).3 He was buried in the Republican Church Cemetery, Harrison County, Kentucky.3

He was born on 11 May 1851.4 He married Laura Buchanan Lee, daughter of Samuel Thomas Lee and Elizabeth Bell Barlow, on 28 Dec 1877 in Harrison County, Kentucky.6 He died on 7 Nov 1934 in Harrison County, Kentucky, at age 83.7 He was buried in the Republican Church Cemetery, Harrison County, Kentucky.3
    Laura Buchanan LEE was born on 11 Sep 1856 in Robertson County, Kentucky.8 She died on 13 Nov 1946 in Boone County, Kentucky, at age 90.8 She was buried in the Republican Church Cemetery, Harrison County, Kentucky.3

In 1910, John's sister-in-law Hattie Alexander was living in his household.12 He was born on 28 Dec 1868.13 He married Ida Alexander in Harrison County, Kentucky.13 He died on 11 Feb 1934 in Bourbon County, Kentucky, at age 65.13 He was buried in the Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana, Harrison County, Kentucky.13
