Name of first wife married in England is not known but there was a marriage
of a John Emorye and Alice Grantham on June 26, 1620 at Whiteparish,
Wiltshire, England which is about eight miles from Romsey. Alice was the
daughter of Andrew Grantham and Andrew was a servant of Francis Plummer and
died in Newbury in 1668. The 1890 Emery book apparantly gives a synthetic
name, Mary, for his wife and lists 1649 for her death. John was fined in 1636
for his attentions to the wife of Henry Travers and Possibly John's wife had
died before that time. He married Mary Shatswell Webster, widow of John
Webster, and daughter of John and Judith Shatswell on October 2, 1648 in
Hadley, Hampshire, Mass. In 1675 he deeded 1/2 of his Newbury house to his
son, Jonathan. Other children noted on the ship passenger list in 1635 were
Anne, Elinor and John.
