Obituary: Died, Summers: At the old LaValle homestead, near No 8, in this
county, at 3 o'clock AM Sunday, June 20th, of pneumonia., Melissa E., beloved
wife of James M. Summers. The deceased ws the youngest daughter of the late
Judge Chas. A. and Sarah LaValle and was aged about 58 years. She leaves
surviving er, James M. Summers, her husband, one child John I. Clark; a
grandchild Charles Hatsel (should be Dalsel), of California and three
sisteer, Mrs. Eliza LaValle of Hickman, Mrs. Carie Maulsby of this city and
Mrs. Sallie Rogers of California.
The deceased was married to Capt. Totter of the Confederate Army in
11861, who only survived the marriage abour a year. To this union one child
was born, Florence, who died at the ae of eleven years.
She was afterwards married to Charles Clark, of this county, who died
leaving two children, Clara and John E., now a resident of this county. Clara
married a Mr. Dalsel of California and died leaving a child, Charles, above
referred to.
In 1870 the deceased was married to Mr. James M. Summers of this counth
and to this union no children were born. The remains were interred in the
family burying ground on Sugar Tree Ridge last Monday morning.......
