Listed as Nancy in the partition suit regarding the estate of her father,
John Ross,dec. but elsewhere is listed as Caty. Married John Jackson. John
and Nancy died young and the several Ross brothers were appointed guardians;
the court guardianship records are in my file and were found in the atic of
the Clinton County, Indiana courthouse. Nancy Catherine's daughter,
Elizabeth,married aaron Young and according to court records lived outside
the state of Indiana at the time of her father's estate settlement. She also
had a daughter, Marth, who married William McNutt and she had sons John,
Andrew, Abram, Martin and Amos as well as a daughter Philetta who was living
with the Thomas Braford family.
Her stone in the Jefferson Cemetery, Washington Township, Clinton County,
Indiana: "Caty, wife of John and Daughter of John and Christena Ross, d Sept
25, 1839, ae 37y, 9m, 5d"
Sue deGafferelle Christiansen writes that one of Catherine and John Jackson's
daughters, named Marie, married Roland McCoy and that they were missionaried
in Japan for thirty years, coming home on the Gripsholm at the start of WW II.
She states that Marie was a cousin of Sue's grandfather and were dear
family friends. I don't know for sure which daughter was called Marie, it
must have been either Philetta or Elizabeth. A cousin of Sue's grandfather
would have been a child of Nancy Catherine Ross and John Jackson. WWII
would have been far too late so I suspect it was WW I. Sue de Gafferelli
Chrisiansen is the grand daughter of Elizabeth Ross and Francis G. Green;
