According to Millie Eck Sowers, Charles was killed in a grain elevator
accident at age 27. According to Charles' sister, Gladys who was the aunt of
Millie Eck Sowers, Charles had married a local beauty, Emma Jane Craig, who
enjoyed the local night scene. He was killed the day after his wife had
insisted on going dancing the evening before and he had not gotten enough
sleep, causing his carelessness at work resulting in his death.
