Generation 2

Thomas Reavis

homas was born about 1723 in Henrico Co, VA and died before 1766 in Northampton Co, NC. There may be records in VA of him, and possibly a first marriage, from which a son Zachariah is believed to have been born.

About 1750 he married Ann, surname unknown, possibly either Harris or Allen. (i.e.,son named Harris and son named Allen; these families were in the area of Northampton Co, NC with the Reavises). Children:

  3 - Henry REAVIS b. 1752 NC; d. 1837
  3 - Harris REAVIS b. 1754 NC; d. 1838; served in Rev. War; went to KY and IL
  3 - Allen REAVIS b. 1760 NC; m. Nancy Ragland

1747 Probably came to NC with his family.

1753 Witnessed deed of James Reavis and James Avent in Northampton Co NC.

1754 Court Order Book 5 p.246 Northampton Co. NC Thomas Revis vs John Pearson.

1755 Purchased 160 acres on Peahill Creek, Northampton Co., NC from James Reavis.

1756 Witnessed deed of John Jones and James Reavise.

1757 Witnessed deed of Sarah Revis, widow of Northampton Co NC (probably his stepmother).

1760-1766 died Northampton Co NC.

ca 1760 son Allen born.

1766 Aug his widow Ann, now married to Wm Bryant, sold her property, and renounced her dower right, described as "where we now live, being the estate of Thomas Reavis."
