The following counties are where records of people with the Womack surname
(or variations thereof) have been found prior to 1851.
This does not include married female Womacks, or people who had Womack ancestors, but not
the Womack surname.

| Clay Co, IL |
1850 Census Identification
- p.362B, h.666 - Milley (Webster, widow of John) >> UNKNOWN >> Richard >> Alexander (B.12)
John was a grandson of Richard as mentioned in Richard's will in Wilson Co, TN.
Some have suggested that Joel was John's father, but there is reason to believe this is incorrect. Others
believe John was born out of wedlock to Richard's daughter Elizabeth, before she married Jeremiah
McKinney. There is proof of associations between John Womack and the McKinney family. John Womack is mentioned as
Richard's grandson in Richard's will, here: Richard Womack of Wilson Co, TN Will.
However, the will does not make clear who John's parents were.

| Franklin Co, IL |
1850 Census Identification
- p.60A, h.843 - Walton Cox (wife Rebecca Wilson) >95> James >> Thomas (D.1)
- p.60B, h.853 - T D (wife Isabel LNU) >70> James >> Thomas (D.1)
The family of "T D Womack" may not have been Womacks (even though the name is quite clearly "Womack" in the the 1850 Census), because I can find no trace of the family
other than this census record. There are currently no on-line marriage records of Franklin Co, IL for the
years 1850 - 1875.
Update 21 Nov 2009: Changing Walton Cox Womack to son of James Womack, instead of James's brother George. See blog entry on James
Womack for details. Also, I am now sure that T D Womack was really a Womack, see posting
on T D Womack and the Slavens family.

Second enumeration, see also Hardin Co, IL.
In 1850, G W Womack was listed in Hardin Co, IL, with Nancy his wife. In my census records, I do not list non-Womacks, but he had 3 Kisterson girls with him, Elizabeth (16, IL), Nancy (13, IL), and Mary (9, IL). Thus, I think his wife was the widow of unknown Kisterson/Kesterson. Also, George Womack was double-enumerated in 1850, listed again as Washington Warmick in Tazewell Co, IL. I found some Kisterson marriages in Tazewell, which may explain his presence there. The Tazewell listing has George and Nancy too old, and mistakenly lists the Kisterson girls as Womacks. It would be too much of a coincidence that these are two distinct families since the names match up so well. In the 1860 Census of Pope Co, IL, George W(ashington) Womack and son Sheppard (and possibly Calvin) are listed in the household of Green B Womack (28, IL).
