If you have documented information to share, please send it to me, and I will be sure to credit you. I really would appreciate some help with this project. Information should be within the project's intended scope (see below). Ocassionally, there may be disputes as to how to interpret various information. Since this is my web site, I will decide if one theory is better than another, or if they are both ambiguous. I will be glad, however, to include dissenting views and alternate theories.
The intent of this project is to identify individuals of the Womack family in America as shown in various records prior to 1851. Records after 1850 are only used when they show the relationships of Womack individuals prior to 1851. For example, a will in 1865 may show that two Womacks born prior to 1851, and living in different parts of the US, were in fact siblings. To keep the scope reasonable, female Womacks will only be traced to their husbands and children, but not their children's spouses and children. The reason for this is simple. There were approximately 2,500 Womacks (of various spellings) in 1850, but this is just a tiny fraction of the total number of descendants of the original Womack family which lived in Henrico Co, VA in the late 1600s. By 1850, they probably had at least 100,000 descendants.
