David Troutman (c1788) was the son of Adam Troutman (1752) and Eve Kennert.

FOURTH GENERATION

1. David TROUTMAN was born about 1788 in , Burke, NC. He died between 1850 and 1860 in , Catawba, NC. He was married to Anne BURKE on 1 Dec 1815 in , Lincoln, NC. Lincoln Co, NC marriage bond: Troutman, David to Burk, Anne 1 Dec 1815 Anne BURKE was born about 1794 in , , VA. She died between 1850 and 1860 in , Catawba, NC. David TROUTMAN and Anne BURKE had the following children:

David Troutman (c1788) first appears in records with his marriage to Anne Burke in 1815. David was one of the males under 16 in the household of his father, Adam Troutman (1752), in the 1790 Census of Burke Co, NC. He moved with his parents to Iredell Co, NC in the early 1790s. After the death of his father in 1797, he moved with his mother, Eve (Kennert) Troutman, to Lincoln Co, NC (the part which became Catawba County in 1842). In 1810, David (c1788) was one of the males in the household of Eve Troutman of Lincoln Co, NC. David (c1788) was not listed as a buyer at the estate sale of his father in Iredell Co, NC in 1806, perhaps because he was not yet 21 years old.

David Troutman (c1788) was enumerated in 1820 in Lincoln Co, NC:

Joseph Troutman (c1818) is believed to be the son of David Troutman (c1788) because David (c1788) was the only married Troutman male in Lincoln Co, NC at the time Joseph (c1818) was born, and because in the 1850 Census, David (c1788) is very near the widow and children of Joseph (c1818). David (c1788) probably had other children, but they are unknown; no sons were known to be living in 1850.

In 1830, David (c1788) was again enumerated in Lincoln Co, NC:

Since Joseph Troutman (c1818) cannot be found in the 1840 Census, it is believed that his family may have lived with the David Troutman (c1788) family:

In 1842, the part of Lincoln Co, NC where David Troutman (c1788) lived became Catawba Co, NC. David was listed there in 1850 in a household consisting of him and his wife:

NC Catawba p.290, 291, 305

 389 389 David Troutman 61 M W Potter - Caldwell
          Ann 55 F W VA

Note that David said he was born in Caldwell Co, NC, a county which was not formed until 1841 from Burke and Wilkes counties. This fits well with the fact that his father, Adam Troutman (1752) was enumerated in 1790 in Burke Co, NC.

David (c1788) and wife, Anne (Burke) Troutman, both apparently died before the 1860 Census. For more on David's (c1788) son, Joseph Troutman (c1818), click on the hyperlink above.
