Jacob Troutman (c1791) was the son of Adam Troutman (1752) and Eve Kennert.

FOURTH GENERATION

1. Jacob TROUTMAN was born about 1791 in , Burke, NC. He served in the military in 1812 in War of 1812, Lincoln Co, NC 1st Reg. He died between 1843 and 1850 in , Catawba, NC. He was married to Barbara WEST on 18 Dec 1832 in , Lincoln, NC. Lincoln Co, NC marriage bond: Troutman, Jacob to West, Barbara 18 Dec 1832 Barbara WEST was born about 1812 in , , NC. She died between 1843 and 1850 in , Catawba, NC. Jacob TROUTMAN and Barbara WEST had the following children:

11. Jacob Troutman - private

Jacob (c1791) was born after the 1790 census, since the two males under 16 in the household of his father, Adam Troutman (1752), in the 1790 Census of Burke Co, NC were his brothers Henry (c1782) (who must have been born before 1790 since he married in 1802) and David (c1788) (shown as age 61 in the 1850 Census). However, Jacob (c1791) was born (or at least conceived) before the death of his father in 1797, and he was old enough to serve in the War of 1812. Thus I arrived at 1791 as an approximate birth year.

As a child, Jacob (c1791) moved with his parents to Iredell Co, NC in the early 1790s. After his father died in 1797, his mother, Eve (Kennert) Troutman, took the family to Lincoln Co, NC (the part which became Catawba Co, NC in 1842). Jacob (c1791) was listed with his mother in the 1810 Census of Lincoln Co, NC.

Jacob Troutman (c1791) did not marry until late in life. He was about 41 when he married Barbara West in 1832. She was in her late teens or early twenties. In 1840, Jacob (c1791) was enumerated in Lincoln Co, NC:

Note that the enumerator put Jacob (c1791) in the 50-59 year old category, but he was likely in his late forties. The children of Jacob (c1791) were living with aunts in the 1850 Census, since both Jacob (c1791) and his wife, Barbara (West) Troutman, had apparently died. These children could conceivably been the children of Jacob's (c1791) brother, David Troutman (c1788), but they were not shown living with David (c1788) in 1850. Also, the ages of the children fit well with the household of Jacob (c1791) as given in 1840. Catawba County was formed in 1842 from the part of Lincoln County in which Jacob (c1791) lived; thus Jacob (c1791) died before the 1850 Census in Catawba Co, NC.

After the death of Jacob (c1791), two of his children went to live with Elizabeth (Troutman) Ingle (c1777), Jacob's (c1791) sister, and the other two children lived with another of Jacob's (c1791) sisters, Nancy (Troutman) Keener (c1787).
