Troutman Family of North Carolina Genealogy Web Site

Hi,

This e-mail is to various family researchers I have corresponded with over the past few years, as well as a few I have not yet corresponded with. I believe that all of you share an interest in the Troutman family of North Carolina.

I have started a new web site, called "The Troutman Family of North Carolina."

The URL is: http://members.aol.com/troutman98/index.html

Also, I have data on over 900 Troutmans who were born before 1900 at my GENDEX site:

http://www.gendex.com/users/b87835/bushart/surnames.html

There is a link to the GENDEX site at The Troutman Family of North Carolina site. You can also download my GEDCOM file if you want.

This Troutman site will cover all branches of the Troutman family of North Carolina up to the 1850 Census, and some branches as far as 1900. This genealogy begins with Adam Troutman (Johannes Adam Trautmann) who was born in 1690 in Gross Gumpen, Hesse, Germany. Beginning with this Adam Troutman, I will eventually have 52 Troutman Family Sketches of the 52 Troutman families descended from Adam Troutman (1690) up until the 1850 Census. Two of these sketches are complete and at the Troutman site for you to look at. Each sketch will provide the genealogical proof to link together the many North Carolina Troutmans who lived before 1850.

Also, this Troutman site will contain hundreds of source records. Most of my census records are already up, and you can check these out.

I'll be sending out e-mails to everyone as I finish major sections of this site. This should occur no more often than every two or three weeks. If you are totally uninterested in this family, please write back to me and say you want to be removed from this mailing list.

Thanks,

Robert E. Burke

Hi,

There are two more Troutman Family Sketches complete -
George Troutman (c1782) of Cabarrus County, North Carolina
Levi Troutman (1813) of Cabarrus County, North Carolina

I have several more sketches in progress. Besides that, I have not had lots of time to work on the site, but I have fixed it up so that you can see its final form. I have a very nice photo of Reichelsheim Lutheran Church (which our Troutman ancestors attended) courtesy of Steve E. Troutman. Also, I have images of the signatures made by the Troutman immigrants in 1751.

If you are intersted, you can read my essay on the early Troutman families in America.

A couple small pieces of news:

I have the marriage date of Peter Troutman (1716) and Elizabeth Gartner. They married on 19 June 1742 in Reichelsheim, Hesse, Germany. This information was in a letter sent to Steve Troutman by a German researcher. Steve sent me a photocopy of the letter.

The book "Heritage of Cabarrus County, North Carolina" was printed a few weeks ago. About 18 months ago, I contributed 5 articles to the book, and they were all published. However, I have since found that some of what I wrote was mistaken. The biggest error is in my article on Peter Troutman (1716). I wrote that his children were:
1) Adam Troutman, born 18 Mar 1743.
2) Melchior Troutman, born 2 Nov 1744.
3) Eve Troutman, born 26 Aug 1746 and died at sea aboard the ship "Neptune" Sep 1751.
4) Henry Troutman, born 12 Oct 1848, probably died young.
5) John Troutman, born 18 Nov 1750, probably died young.
6) Andrew Troutman, born about 1752. He is mentioned in early tax records and court records of Rowan County, North Carolina, from the time of the Revolutionary War, but he apparently died single as a young man before 1790.
7) Eva Maria Troutman born 7 Aug 1755, married Peter Corl.
8) Anne Elizabeth Troutman, born 1 Aug 1757, married Samuel Garber.
9) Anna Margaret Troutman, born 1 Jul 1759, married Philip Earnhardt.
10) Peter Troutman, Jr., born about 1761.
11) Mary Troutman, born about 1763. Married Jacob Yost.
12) Jacob Troutman, born about 1765.

Child #3, Eve (Anna Eva) Troutman (1746), did not die at sea in 1751. Rather, she was the daughter of Peter
Troutman (1716) who married Peter Corl.
Child #7, Mary (Eve Maria) Troutman (1755), did not marry Peter Corl; she married Jacob Yost.
Child #11, Mary Troutman (c1763), is a mistake. Thinking that Eve (1746) had died in 1751, I added this Mary Troutman to explain the four daughters of Peter (1716) in his will in 1792.
Child #12, Jacob Troutman (c1765) - we now have an exact birthdate on him - 22 Sep 1768

As always, you are totally uninterested in this family, please write back to me and say you want to be removed from this mailing list.

Thanks,
