In Memoriam. Mrs. Susie C. Hart, the beloved consort of Prof. Thomas E. Hat of Furman university, and daughter of the Rev. C. H. Lanneau, of Greenville, who breathed her last in Darlington, on Wednesday the 1st of August. Nearly six years ago, a happy young bride, rejoicing in the tender love and manly protection of him whom she had chosen as the companion of her life, she left her home in Greenville to accompany her husband to the distant land of Germany, where he was pursuing his studies in the University of Heidelberg. they then expected to return in about one year. But ere this time had rolled around, a dreadful war-cloud overhung their native land. The ports were blockaded... On the 14th of June, after a prosperous voyage, they arrived safely in Darlington, the paternal home of the male partner. Here they remained for several weeks, pleasantly visiting among his relatives.... Two sweet little girls, one only nine months old, are left without a mother's tender care.... T. H. L. Darlington, S. C., Aug. 6, 1866.

102. 1930 census said he was 72 and married for the first time at age 30 - which would make it 1888 or 1889; however since he was b. Nov 1856 - he would have been 30 from Nov 1886- Nov 1887; Theresa on the other hand was 63, married for the first time at age 26, which would make her married in 1893 or 1894; She was b in Dec 1865 and would have been 26 from Dec 1891- Dec 1892
The census also said he emigrated in 1890 and she emigrated in 1892 [We know they were married here, and that she arrived in Ellis Island on 18 Nov 1889, when she was 23]
So we assume he married his unknown first wife in 1886 or 1887 and married Theresa in 1892.

530. p. 248 of Hackensack Church Records -"found in Membership Records"
Jacob son of Jacob Kool Jr. and Sara Power bap. 23 Nov 1710 - wit: Reyer Hause and Barber, wid of Jacob Kool
The year has obviously been copied wrong as Jacob Kool m. Sara Pouwer 25 Feb 1717 [9 mos later would have been Nov 1718 - though it could been Nov 1719 as well. It was probably not Nov 1720 or 1722 as bro. Isaak was bap. in Nov 1721.
531. Since year on gs was recorded incorrectly as 1801 instead of 1804 his age at death recorded as 51y-11m -24d could also be incorrect. subtracting 51y-11m -24d from 6 Apr 1804 computes to b. 13 Apr 1752 which would make him 14 at marriage, subtracting 57y-11m-24 would give 13 Apr 1749 (the date given in Zabriskie #72) which would make him 17 at marriage and subtracting 57-11m-24 days (the age giben in the Budke transcriptiion) would give b. 13 Apr 1746 or 20 at marriage which would seem most logical.

623. The Landrys of Old Acadia.by Peter Landry.
http://www.blupete.com/Genealogy/LandryOA.htm Footnote #8
No direct evidence has yet to be discovered as to when the first Landry, René Landry came to Acadia, or under whose auspices he came, I have concluded that it had to be between the years 1638-1650. It is likely that René Landry came as a result of the recruiting efforts of the agents of either Isaac de Razilly and/or Charles de Menou D'Aulnay, more likely under D'Aulnay. To begin with d'Aulnay was of a French noble family who had the seigneury of Aulnay (Château de Charnisay) which is located near Louden, the place from which Landry and a number of the original Acadians hailed. Further, it was only d'Aulnay, in continuing with the original efforts of Razilly, who made any kind of a colonization effort during this period of history (for that matter, at any period during the history of Acadia). "He [d'Aulnay] fetched some 20 families from France ... his rivals [La Tour] were almost entirely concerned with trade, d'Aulnay's ambition was to establish a lasting colony." (DCB, vol., pp. 505-6.) I am now (May of 1997) in a position to update this note as a result of some field work, some very pleasant field work. In April of 1997, Margo and I travelled to France and found our way down to a place just south of Loudun and visited the villages of Angliers, Martaizé, Aulnay, and la Chausée. It was at la Chausée where we discovered an Acadian museum that the local people maintain, Maison de l'Acadie. This small little museum does an admirable job of retracing the steps of the original Acadian families that, by and large, during the mid 17th century, came from this very small area of France. The highlight of our trip was to discover the stone church of la Chausée, just in behind Maison de l'Acadie; it was the church, we discovered with delight, in which René Landry and Perrine Bourg stood before the altar and took their marriage vows on the 15th of April, 1638. The very friendly French lady in charge of the museum, Mme. Yvette Chauser, further advised, with conviction, that this young French couple, after a further church service during which the entire community wished them well, in the year 1642, traveled out of the community to the coast, with others, to board the ship which was to bring them to the new world, which was to become known as Acadia.

Loudun is 60 km south-west of Tours. Tours, as can be seen from a map of France, is located on the beautiful Loire, a French river rich both in grape vines and regal history. Loudun, to give a further directional fix, is but 20 km south from Candes, a small community located in one of the south pointing elbows of the many elbows of the Loire. The French Canadian and Acadian Genealogical Review (FCAGR), p. 56, says, that there is an "ancient parish," "Saint-jean d'Angely," where, in the registers, will be found "a goodly number of Acadian names," including: Babin, Bourgeois, Brun, Daigre, Dousset, Dugas, Godet, Landry, LeBlanc, Martin, Richard, etc.

629. Bourgeois family
Telegraph-Journal, Friday, July 29, 1994; p. A4
By his own account, Jacques Bourgeois, the pioneer of the Bourgeois family in Acadia, came to Acadia as a surgeon in 1642, during the governorship of Charles d'Aulnay.
The most recent theory about Jacques Bourgeois' birthplace comes from René Perron. His research on the origins of Acadian families in France brought him to a La Ferté-Gaucher where he found in the registers of the parish of Saint-Romain the baptismal certificate of Jacob Bourgeois, born on January 9, 1621, son of Marguerite Bourgeois. He might have learned his trade of surgeon in a commandery of the Order of Malta in nearby Coutrans.
630. Called Marie Judith Doucet aage 46 in the 1671 Census married to Abraha 55; but in subsequent censuses enumerated as Marguerite ( 66 in 1627); One would think he married first Marie Judith and then second Marguerite, but as not Marguerite Doucet was listed in the 1671 this is doubtful, so he is assumed by White and others to have had only one wife Marguerite.
