If you are subscribed in mail mode (IOWA-L) you will receive every posting made to IOWA as a separate email—at present about 12-20 messages each day. If you are subscribed in digest mode (IOWA-D) several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message—usually once per day. Whichever version you are subscribed to, you may post an email message to the list by sending it to: IOWA@Rootsweb.com	Please, always use a helpful subject line like "John DOE d. 1800 in Jones Co," rather than a generic one like "Inquiry about my family line." When responding, especially to a digest message, be sure the subject line matches the subject of your message. Only plain text messages may be posted to the list—no attachments, imbeded objects or formatted text.	This list operates in "reply to sender" mode. Your replies to messages are directed to the person who sent the original message. If what you have tosay is a PERSONAL response to someone's post, that's fine. If what you have to say contains information of interest to the entire list, you will want to click on "Reply All" or manually add the list address to your message header.
