![]() On this 28th day of December 1843 personally appeared before me Jesse Jones, a justice of the Peace in and for the said county of Vigo, Daniel Soesbe, a resident of said county, aged fifty-seven years past, who being by me first duly sworn, according to law upon his oath, says, that he is a son of Daniel & Rachel Soesbe of the county of Vigo & state of Indiana, that his father the said Daniel Soesbe, was a Pensioner of the United States, & placed on the Indiana Pension Roll & Agency at the rate of eighty dollars per annum first at Corydon & lastly at Madison, that his father the said Daniel Soesbe died in Vigo County Indiana on the on the 4th of March 1841, that his mother the said Rachel Soesbe, is now living in the said county of Vigo & has never as yet intermarried with any other person since the death of her husband as aforesaid, that he has known his said father & mother to live together as man and wife from his earliest recollections to the death of his father as aforesaid which he can speak of as far back as the last fifty years and that this affiant has one brother and two sisters older than he is, children of the said Daniel and Rachel, his parents, that the family Record of the births of their children and he thinks the ages & marriage of his said father and mother as sent to the commissioner of Pensions, in company with his mother's Pension claim in August last, he has been acquainted with ever since his earliest recollection, that he knows and believes it to be the hand writing of his father, from what he has heard his father say of that record & from his acquaintance with the record and the hand write in which it was made. The Bible out of which the record was taken is a very ancient one of the old style and size and is considerably emaciated & worn & ragged & is now in the possession of the said Rachel his mother; That his older brother John was at Mobile at last intelligence from him in the year 1812 & that his elder sister Susannah is in Iowa Territory & his next older sister in Green county, Indiana. | |||
