A database of Tallman and related families from Portsmouth and surrounding areas mostly before 1750.

I started this when my consort brought home a copy of Austin's 160 Allied Families that she found on the circulating shelf at our local genealogy library. The book provided a lot of information—and a lot of loose ends. More books followed and trips to the web to try to fill in missing birth dates, spouses, etc. There is much still missing.

I have received permission to to post RuthAlice Anderson's well-researched and fascinating paper on Peter Tallman (1622-1708). The paper not only presents many details of his life, but examines them in a historical perspective.

Benjamin Tallman died and left this will June 4, 1820. It is notable that the only son or daughter-in-law mentioned is John Harrison, husband of Ann. He had died in 1812 at Fort Meigs and Ann had remarried to George Tong, March 17, 1818. There is some dispute about who the parents of John were and I would appreciate any information about this.

We have a portion of the 1895 Rand McNally Rhode Island map and a map illustrating Tallman (Talman, Tolman Taleman) migration to the New World.
