John Girtman of Illinois Obituary   John Girtman     John Girtman, son of Alfred and Mary Ann Girtman was born October 4, 1867 in Laurel County, Kentucky. Died February 8, 1947 in Metropolis at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ada Mohr, age 79 years, 4 months and 4 days.
    In 1891 he was united in marriage to Emma Humphrey who preceded him in death. To this union, eight children were born, namely: Herbert Girtman, Belknap; Ray Girtman, Metropolis; Owen Girtman, St. Louis, Mo.; Ezra Girtman, Elkhart, Ind.; Loren Girtman, Belknap; Mrs. Ada Mohr, Metropolis; Gene Girtman, and one having died in infancy.
    He united with the New Hope Baptist Church in 1922.
    He leaves to mourn his going away one sister; three brothers; one daughter and six sons; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, besides a number of other relatives and friends.
