History of Mills County Iowa - 1985 NORMAN DALE PIERCE Norman Dale Pierce was born Auguest 7, 1923 in the rural Glenwood area. His parents were Paul Pierce and Hilda Hammers Pierce. Paul Pierce spent his life in the Thurman area, and Hilda Hammers Pierce was raised in Washington state and southwest Iowa. Norman served in the army during WWII in the 8th Armored Division of the 3rd and 7th Armies in the European theater. He was in the Battle of the Bulge, among others, and saw many European countries........ In 1952 Norman married Collen J. Kline who was born in Malven in 1930 and was raised on a farm in Rawles township. Her parents were Daniel Dale Kline, who was a floriest in his early years, and Lucile Lindsey, both of Malvern Iowa. They moved to the farm in 1937. Lucile spent many years teaching school in rural Malvern, Glenwood and Council Bluffs, Iowa. Dale and Lucile had 7 children: Paul who died in 1972; Colleen; Lou Ellen, and R.N. living in Omaha; Judith of Glenwood; Eldon of Williams, AZ; Jill (Gibson) of Portsmouth, Iowa and Dan of Tucson, Arizona.............
