Myron Rockwell (1804-1876) of Bradford and Tioga Co., Pennsylvania
[R146 in edition 1, R142 in ed. 2]: Descendant Bob Lefler reports that Myron founded the State Road Baptist Church between Covington and Troy, Pennsylvania. He preached at Jobs Corner Baptist Church in the 1860s and 1870s. He was buried in the churchyard of the old Roseville Baptist Church, where he also preached. Bob Lefler found his stone in poor repair and shored it up. [This is about a half-mile up the road from the present site of the church.] Myron's home was on Pumpkin Hill, overlooking both Roseville and Jobs Corner.

In the 1920s he was Principal of Staples High School in Westport, Connecticut, where a cousin, Mark Rockwell Lefler, served as Supervisor of Schools. [For further, see below, under Myron's daughter Ella.] Another son of Coly and Frances Beach, Frederick Beach, was the Chief of the U.S. Office of Education in Washington, D.C., in the 1930s and 1940s. Later he settled in Westport, Connecticut--in Fairfield County, from which his ancestors had moved in the 1760s. He was Superintendent of Schools in Westport. Interestingly, another descendant of Myron Rockwell, Mark's first cousin once removed, Horace Beech, served during the same period as Principal of Westport's Staples High School. Together, they brought Staples High up to state standards. Mark's daughter Berneta Lefler became President of the Staples Student Body and later, after graduating from Mansfield Normal, where she was also student body president, she became Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Wilton, Connecticut. This was all in the 1920s and 1930s. [Thanks to descendant Bob Lefler for this.]
- Lillian May Lefler, b. at Jackson, Pa., 20 April 1877. [Phoenix called her "Lilla," but Bob Lefler has record of her first name.] She married Arthur Alan Watkins of Arnot, Tioga Co., Pa., a physician. Watkins attended the University of Pennsylvania, sponsored by farmer Benjamin Harrison on the condition that he name his first child after Harrison, which he did. His father was a coal miner, and Arthur Watkins spent his career treating the miners, eventually dying of the tuberculosis that afflicted them.
