DeLauzun Keeler Rockwell (1802-1886), of Richland and Williams counties, Ohio (R214 in the 2nd edition): Further details on his family
I wrote that Boughton's report that DeLauzun went to Michigan was probably incorrect. It appears he was right after all. In Williston, Ingham Co., Michigan, where his son Frederick settled, I found records from the village cemetery that include Frederick's family, as well as these headstones:
- D. L. Rockwell (father) 1802–1886
- H. L. Rockwell (mother), 1808–1890
These are surely DeLauzun and his wife Hannah!
Other gravestones read:
- Frederick K. Rockwell - 1826-1906
- Mary A. Rockwell - 1830-1904
- Albert J. Rockwell - 1861-1922 [Frederick and Mary's son]
- Alfred D. Rockwell - 1861-1891 [Frederick and Mary's son, Albert's twin]
- Eliza A. Rockwell - 1855-1912 [Alfred's wife]
- Wm. F. Rockwell - 1891-1904 [prob. William Frost, son of Alfred, named for Eliza's father]
- Geo. B. Rockwell - 1852-1919 [son of Frederick]
- Mary G. Rockwell - 1887-1890 [connection uncertain. Transcription was alphabetical, but location might suggest who her parents were]
- Birdie M. Rockwell - 1876-1890 [connection uncertain. Transcription was alphabetical, but location might suggest who her parents were]
- Margaret, wife of B.F. Rockwell - d. Feb. 18, 1873, aged 34 yrs, 7 mo. Possibly, B. F. was DeLauzun's son Francis, aged 20 in 1850. In the 1880 census there is a "Burnell" [?] Rockwell, 51, in Lock Township, Ingham County--51, born in Ohio, parents born in Connecticut. His wife was "Jula" [Julia?], 43, and five younger Rockwells [NOT arranged by age, in case that's relevant]: Ellen, 15; Harley, 2; Fred, 22; Delbert, 14; Amanda, 9; and Frank, 7. Was this "B.F. Rockwell" whose wife Margaret was buried near DeLauzun and Frederick's grave in 1873? If so, the 1880 household is a blended one, and some of the children may be Jula's by a previous marriage, not Rockwells. I couldn't find further on Francis, Burnell, or B.F. Rockwell via Census.
