We know little of this individual except that he died before his brother Jeremy's death in 1874, and left four children who were named as next-of-kin in the latter's probate records. Among those was Henry H. Rockwell of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A 1901 obituary for one Henry Hart Rockwell of Milwaukee may be this son. This Henry was born in Turin, Lewis County, New York, suggesting that James Rockwell settled in Lewis County. Thanks for this to Shirley Johnson, who sent the following:

Mr. Rockwell, who was 63 years old, had been in poor health since a severe attack of the grip, and a complication of troubles resulting from that complaint left little chance of his recovery.
