Son Charles F. Rockwell was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. An online transcript of the Decennial register (1888-1898) for the Pennsylvania SAR gives his name in full: his middle name was "Fox." Most interesting, the service record more closely reflects his grandfather's reported service as given in the pension application of 1832, rather than the family tradition:
ROCKWELL, JABEZ 1761-1847: Private, and Fifer, in the Companies of Capts. Sears, Purdy, Barnum, Geddings, David Pearse, and Frederick Zimmerman, Ninth Regiment, Col. John Mead, and Thirteenth Regiment, Lt.-Col. Samuel Canfield commanding, CT Militia, Dec., 1777-Dec., 1782. This register dates only a few years before the family commemorative book that ascribes to this Jabez Rockwell a 3-year-service that included the Valley Forge encampment and the battles of Monmouth and Germantown.
