The maiden name of his wife Esther has long been sought by their numerous descendants. We may finally have the answer, thanks to researcher Gaylord Rockwell, who has been in touch with one Mike Todt of Ellenville, New York. Todt is a descendant of Mary, who married Benoni Gray. He claimed to have a family Bible that identifies Mary's parents as Jonathan Rockwell and Esther Hurlburt. It would be wonderful to see this document, and to get it into print, perhaps in Connecticut Ancestry. For now, let's see what further evidence can be found using this lead.
