Cousin was supposed to have been one of Queens 7 ft. guard.(?) Frances married Edmund WHITNEY, son of Edmund WITNEY and Mary SEYMOUR, on 26 October 1840 in Bowdon, Cheshire, England.1 (Edmund WHITNEY was born on 24 June 1818 in Chinnor, Oxfordshire, England 8 and died about 1850 6.)
Edmund and Frances were married in the parish church in the Parish of Bowdon in the County of Chester on October 26, 1840. His surname on the marriage certificate is shown as Witney, their age as "full age", his occupation as Labourer, their residence at time of marriage as Altrincham. His father is shown as Edmund Witney, occupation Labourer. Her father is shown as William Hope, occupation Labourer. They signed their names by making their mark, x. Frances next married Thomas NIGHTINGALE before 1856.2 (Thomas NIGHTINGALE was born on 10 August 1815 in , , , England,4 9 died on 28 August 1879 in , Harrison Co., Iowa 10 and was buried in 1879 in Soldier Valley Cemetery, Jackson Twsp., Harrison Co., Iowa 11.)
