Brother may have lived in Sioux City, Iowa. Had three sons: John, Will and George. We also have an oral legend that relatives were hat makers in Stockport, but have been unable to make a connection. Frances married Edmund WHITNEY, son of Edmund WITNEY and Mary SEYMOUR, on 26 October 1840 in Bowdon, Cheshire, England.1 (Edmund WHITNEY was born on 24 June 1818 in Chinnor, Oxfordshire, England 8 and died about 1850 6.)   Marriage Notes: Edmund and Frances were married in the parish church in the Parish of Bowdon in the County of Chester on October 26, 1840. His surname on the marriage certificate is shown as Witney, their age as "full age", his occupation as Labourer, their residence at time of marriage as Altrincham. His father is shown as Edmund Witney, occupation Labourer. Her father is shown as William Hope, occupation Labourer. They signed their names by making their mark, x.
