Memorial service was held at the Salem Lutheran church Friday, October 25 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Charles Hanson officiating. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Swanson. The son of Carrie and Charles (Carl and Caroline) Johnson, he was born May 11, 1891, north of Vermillion. He was baptized July 5, 1891 and confirmed with the class of 1906 in the Salem Lutheran church, Axtell, where he remained an active member all his life. He was married to Clara Elvira Kjellberg, November 30, 1922, and they were the parents of two children, Inez and Lyle. They celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary in 1962. He was preceded in death by his wife in March, 1963; his parents, five sisters and three brothers. Survivors include the daughter, Inez, Mrs. Howard Swanson, Frankfort; son Lyle Johnson, Axtell, and nine grandchildren. Casket bearers were Gale Van Dorn, Wendell Vandorn, Harlan Johnson, Hubert Vandorn, Walker Vandorn and Duane Polson. Burial was at the Salem cemetery with Landreth-Thornburgh, Axtell, in charge of arrangements. 6   Christening Notes: Salem Lutheran church, Axtell, Kansas. Edward married Clara Elvira KJELLBERG, daughter of Charles KJELLBERG and Ida, on 30 November 1922.1 (Clara Elvira KJELLBERG was born on 2 February 1900 in Vliets, Marshall Co., Kansas 5, christened on 1 April 1900 in Axtell, Marshall Co., Kansas and died on 6 March 1963 in Seneca, , Kansas 5.)
