"Obituary of Mrs. Edward Johnson

Clara Elvira, eldest daughter of Ida and Charles Kjellberg, was born Feb 2, 1900 in Vliets, Kansas. She died in the Seneca Hospital on March 6, 1963, at the age of 63 years, one month, and four days.
She was baptized April 1, 1900 and confirmed with the class of 1915, in the Salem Lutheran church, Axtell, Kansas, where she remained a faithful member all of her live.
Clara was united in marriage to Edward J. Johnson, Nov. 30, 1922. To this union were born two children, Lyle and Inez. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Caleb.
She is survived by her husband, a son, Lyle and wife Elanore, Axtell, Kansas, a daughter Inez and husband, Harvey Swanson, Vermillion, Cansas, nine grandchildren, Richard, Janet, Charles and Joan Johnson and Larry, Lyle, Terry, Colleen and Kathy Swanson, two sisters, Mrs. Della Polson, Vermillion, Kansas and Leona Kjellberg, Clay Center, Kansas, many relatives and a host of friends.
She spent her entire life in the Salem community with the exception of one year, having attended high school in Vermillion. She later attended college in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was an active member of the ladie's organizations of the church and has been an officer in all of them. She taught the Nursery Class in the Sunday school for many years and took an active part in neighborhood and community affairs.
In November she and her husband celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with their family.
She was a sincere Christian woman and her life was a living testimony to her faith. She was happiest when she was doing for others and serving her Lord in her quiet and unassuming manner.
She was a faithful and loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed by her loved ones.
The memorial service was held Saturday afternoon at the Salem Luteran church, the Rev. A. W. Lindberg officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Lois Swanson, organist; Stanley Swanson, Mrs. Wendell Vandorn, Mrs. Duane Polson, Mrs. Harlan Johnson. Interment was made in the Salem cemetery.
Casket bearers were Don VanDorn, Arthur Argo, Harlan Johnson, Edith Swanson, Martin Samuels, Arthur VanDorn. ..." 4
