bullet  General Notes:

The original spelling of the Dalbec name was Delpeche/Delpeches. Between 1665 and the 1860's when the family came to the U.S., thename went through several spelling variations. Delpeche was first shortened to Delpech, then Delpec. To avoid confusion with another large family in Quebec it was changed to Dalpec. From there it went through several changes (Dalpech, Dalpe, Dolbecque) until it finally became Dalbec around the late 1700's and early 1800's.
Once in the U.S. most of the family used and retained the name DALBEC, except for the descendants of 3 of Joachim Dalbec's grandsons and 1 great-grandson. One grandson changed to Dalbeck; two grandsons changed to Dolbec and one-great grandson changed from Dolbec to Delbeck. 1
