10. Samuel Whitworth Sr. (Thomas¹) was born on 14 Dec 1745 in Farmville Prince Edward Co VA, died on 1 May 1819 in Hall Co GA and was buried in Hall Co GA.

Samuel and his wife raised 14 children. James A. Perry, great-grandson of Samuel and the grandson of John C. Whitworth wrote on 27 Jan. 1943: "Samuel Whitworth Sr. moved to Old Pendleton, SC, presumably soon after his marriage to Mary Walden in 1778. The sons enumerated in the foregoing were born at Old Pendleton, SC, and moved to Georgia, Gwinnett Co., about 1820." George Thomas Whitworth, great-grandson of Samuel, wrote on 18 Dec. 1934: "He (Samuel) moved to Pendleton Dist., SC, then later to Madison Co. GA, later moving to Hall Co., GA, near Talmo, where he died. His wife moved to Gwinnett Co. and was buried at Shilo Church in Walton Co., GA." James A. Perry also writes: There was a son "Asbury Whitworth, father of the late Mrs. Nettie Ewing (wife of Miles E. Ewing, Lawrenceville, GA) and Cassie Whitworth Stanford, wife of the late J.R. Stanford, father of Calvin Stanford, Connally Building, Atlanta, GA. Another son, Richard Whitworth, father of James O. and Hiram Whitworth. James O. Whitworth was the father of the late Robert Whitworth, Ordinary of Gwinnett Co., GA; died in Lawrenceville, Nov. 1940." He also writes: "The foregoing information was furnished to the undersigned (James A. Perry) by the late Robert B. Whitworth some ten years ago. (1933). He had spent considerable time in defining the Whitworths in the line of Samuel Whitworth, Sr., and I am presuming that in the main this data is correct."

Samuel married Mary Hubbard Walden, daughter of Richard R. Walden and Candace Hubbard, on 9 Mar 1778 in Mecklenburg Co VA. (Mary Hubbard Walden was born on 22 May 1755 in Pittsylvania Co VA, died in Gwinnett Co GA and was buried in Shilo Church Walton Co GA.)

Mary moved to Gwinnett Co., GA, after Samuel died. She is buried at Shilo Church in Walton Co., GA.

   14 M    ii. Ransom Whitworth was born about 1781 in Old Pendleton Anderson Co SC and died in Hiram Paulding Co GA.

Ransom married Elizabeth Mason.

   15 F    iii. Tabitha Whitworth was born about 1783.

Tabitha married Derias Echols.

   16 F    iv. Candace Whitworth was born about 1785.

Candace married John Echols.

   17 M    v. Winston Whitworth was born on 16 Mar 1788 in Old Pendleton Anderson Co SC.

Winston married Polly Albright.

   18 M    vi. Richard W. Whitworth was born on 3 Feb 1790 in Old Pendleton Anderson Co SC and died in Gwinnett Co GA. (Twin)

Richard married M. Mary Barnes.
