In a narrative written by James A. Perry on 27 Jan. 1943, he states "Samuel Jr., who was married to Matilda Kilgore Whitworth, parents of Jack and Wentworth Whitworth..." According to George T. Whitworth who wrote on 18 Dec. 1934, there was a John C. (Jack) Whitworth but no Wentworth Whitworth and no mention of Samuel being married to a Matilda Kilgore.
A Winston Whitworth is mentioned by the Rev. Don Whitworth. He moved to Madison Co MO in 1820 and raised a large family.
He has an infant son buried in Whitworth Cemetery, Madison Co GA. It is not clear to which wife he was born. Tombstone reads: "Infant son of Samuel and Ruth." There is no date of birth or death.
Samuel married Ruth Woodall in 1819 in Madison Co GA.

WHITWORTH, John C., Private, August 24, 1861. Company "F", 24th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia, Confederate States of America, Gwinnett County, Georgia "Gwinnett Independent Blues". Appointed 4th Corporal in 1863. Killed at Cedar Creek, Virginia, October 19, 1864.

The following is from the SUPPLEMENT TO GWINNETT COUNTY, GEORGIA, FAMILIES, 1818-1968, by Alice Smythe McCabe, published by the Gwinnett Historical Society, Inc., Lawrenceville, Georgia, Page 544:
"John Claiborne Whitworth Jr., (8/21/1842 - 10/19/1864) entered Confederate Army as Private, 8/24/1861, Co F, 24th Georgia, appointed 4th Corporal 1863. He was a 'Flag-bearer' in General Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. Mortally wounded at Fort Royal, Cedar Creek, Virginia, he fell with the flag partially rolled about his fallen body, yelling three times 'Rally the flag, boys'".
