19. Charles Hubbard Whitworth (Samuel Sr.¹⁰, Thomas¹) was born on 3 Feb 1790 in Old Pendleton Anderson Co SC and died in Anderson Co SC.

Charles married Rebecca H. Bates.

20. William Southerland Whitworth (Samuel Sr.¹⁰, Thomas¹) was born on 2 Aug 1792 in Old Pendleton Anderson Co SC.

He represented Madison County in the General Assembly of GA about 1840 and was sheriff of the same county in 1834-1835 and also 1838-1839.

William married Parthenia Sanders on 12 Oct 1820 in Madison Co GA.

They had the following children:

23. Samuel Whitworth Jr. (Samuel Sr.¹⁰, Thomas¹) was born on 26 Feb 1795 in Old Pendleton Anderson Co SC, died in Nov 1871 in Madison Co GA and was buried in Pocotalago District Madison Co GA.

In a narrative written by James A. Perry on 27 Jan. 1943, he states "Samuel Jr., who was married to Matilda Kilgore Whitworth, parents of Jack and Wentworth Whitworth..." According to George T. Whitworth who wrote on 18 Dec. 1934, there was a John C. (Jack) Whitworth but no Wentworth Whitworth and no mention of Samuel being married to a Matilda Kilgore.

A Winston Whitworth is mentioned by the Rev. Don Whitworth. He moved to Madison Co MO in 1820 and raised a large family.

He has an infant son buried in Whitworth Cemetery, Madison Co GA. It is not clear to which wife he was born. Tombstone reads: "Infant son of Samuel and Ruth." There is no date of birth or death.

Samuel married Ruth Woodall in 1819 in Madison Co GA.

Ruth was the sister of Elizabeth Hampton. Elizabeth was the wife of Thomas II, Samuel II's son.

26. John Claiborne Whitworth Sr. (Samuel Sr.¹⁰, Thomas¹) was born on 27 Jul 1799 in Old Pendleton Anderson Co SC and died in Gwinnett Co GA. Another name for John was Jack.

John C. married Issabelle Drummond of Gwinnett Co., GA and they had 16 children. He later married Jane Johnston Kilgore, who is the maternal grandmother of James A. Perry, from whom this information was taken. John C. and Jane had 5 children. Information dated 27 Jan 1943, by James Perry. (Clayborn possibly spelled "Claiborn"). (John C. had 21 children.)

John married Issabella Drummond. (Issabella Drummond was born in Gwinnett Co GA.)

Per Jacqueline Hunt Whitworth's book, "WHITWORTH's - 1994", he died in the Civil War. Listed in the "Roster of Confederate Soldiers of Georgia, 1861-1865", Volume 4, Page 54, as follows:

WHITWORTH, John C., Private, August 24, 1861. Company "F", 24th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia, Confederate States of America, Gwinnett County, Georgia "Gwinnett Independent Blues". Appointed 4th Corporal in 1863. Killed at Cedar Creek, Virginia, October 19, 1864.

The following is from the SUPPLEMENT TO GWINNETT COUNTY, GEORGIA, FAMILIES, 1818-1968, by Alice Smythe McCabe, published by the Gwinnett Historical Society, Inc., Lawrenceville, Georgia, Page 544:

"John Claiborne Whitworth Jr., (8/21/1842 - 10/19/1864) entered Confederate Army as Private, 8/24/1861, Co F, 24th Georgia, appointed 4th Corporal 1863. He was a 'Flag-bearer' in General Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. Mortally wounded at Fort Royal, Cedar Creek, Virginia, he fell with the flag partially rolled about his fallen body, yelling three times 'Rally the flag, boys'".
