According to the 1900 census, Thomas
OLSZOWKA and his wife Anna WARZALA immigrated to the United
States around 1884. It appears they first went to Illinois -- the
two children enumerated with them were born in Illinois -- and then
they came to Platte County, Nebraska. This census shows that
Thomas and Anna (Hannah) were married 37 years, so they married about
1863. Anna was the mother of 10 children, 4 of them were living
at the time of the census.

The widowed Thomas was enumerated with his son Joseph in the 1910 U.S.
census. There is a death entry in the St. Michael's Church
(Tarnov, Platte County, Nebraska) 125th Anniversary publication for a
65-year-old Anna Olszowka who died 14 August 1909. Her calculated
year of birth would be about 1844, which is the year of birth given on
the 1900 census.

Anna OLSZOWKA and Joseph GALUS
Thomas and Anna's daughter Anna married my granduncle, Joseph GALUS, on
26 January 1910 at St. Michael Church in Tarnov, Platte County,
Nebraska. Joseph and my grandfather, Stanislaus GALUS, immigrated
from Leki Gorne / Łęki Górne, Galicia, Austrian Poland, in
September 1898. They were going to join their aunt and uncle
Marianna (nee GALUS) and Andrew PAPROCKI, who were living in Platte
County, Nebraska.
I have found information about Joseph and his family through the end of
1920. After that, they all seem to have disappeared!! I
collected all the information about Anna's brother Joseph in the hope
that it would provide some leads. It was very disappointing not
to find mention of them in Joseph's obituary.
What I know about Joseph and Anna OLSZOWKA GALUS is on my main GALUS
Family page.
