Joannes SZTORC and Theresia NOSAL - Great Great Great Grandparents

My resources for tracing my family in Leki Gorne / Łęki Górne and Leki Dolne / Łęki Dolne are the LDS microfilms of the church Parish records. The only records I found from the Łęki Górne microfilms which named Joannes and Theresia NOSOL / NOSAL SZTORC were the birth/baptism records of several of the children born to their son Joannes and his second wife Marianna TWOREK. Based on ages given on his marriage records and his death record, the younger Joannes was born about 1791 / 1794. I had been unable to locate a birth/baptism record for the younger Joannes in the Łęki Górne / Łęki Dolne records. I also searched for other SZTORC offspring born to Joannes and Theresia, but found none.

Toward the end of May 2005, I was looking up a record for another researcher in the microfilms for the Parish of Pilzno. This parish was comprized of Pilzno and several small villages in the area (Kozia Wola, Lipiny, Dulczowka / Dulczówka, Strzegocice, Bielowy, Slotowa / Słotowa, Zajaczkowice / Zajączkowice, Redziny / Rędziny, Pilznionek). I had traced my grandmother's KUDRON family from the Łęki Górne parish to Lipiny and Kozia Wola in the Pilzno parish. I had looked for my Joannes SZTORC in the Lipiny and Kozia Wola records, but at the time it did not occur to me to look in the other villages. After realizing this omission, I began checking the baptism registers for each of the villages in this parish. I found him! My Joannes SZTORC / STORC was baptized in the tiny village of Zajączkowice on 25 October 1794. So far I have found records of seven other children born to Joannnes and Theresia.

I have found several records that name Valentinus as husband or father, but none of them note his parentage.  All records give his house number as "4" in Zajączkowice.  House # 4 is where all children of Joannes and Theresia STORC  were born, and where Joannes and Theresia died.  I have not found any other Valentinus SZTORC / STORC from this place and time to confuse the issue.  Based on the numerous references to house # 4 in Zajaczkowice / Zajączkowice, I am drawing the conclusion that the Valentinus, husband of these two women, and father of their children, who were also born in house # 4, is the son of Joannes STORC and Theresia NOSOL.  The baptism record for Valentinus STORC is dated 23 Jan 1788.  The Valentinus of the marriage records has calculated birth years of  1785 and 1786.

Valentinus first married Magdalena SWIERCZEK, daughter of Antonius SWIERCZEK, on 28 Nov 1809, Zajączkowice, Poland.  Based on her age given on the marriage record and on her death record, Magdalena was born about 1791-1794.  She died on 23 Mar 1824 in Zajączkowice, Poland, house 4. (Death record, LDS microfilm 2006695, item 1, page 12 )

Valentinus and Magdalena were the parents of:

Marianna and Joannes were the parents of at least three children:

Hedwig CZUBA married Michael CHROBAK on 9 Nov 1863 in Kozia Wola, Parish of Pilzno, Galicia, Poland. Hedwig was 16 years old from house 4 in Zajaczkowice, Michael was 23 years old from house 19 in Kozia Wola.

Catharina CZUBA married Joseph BARO / BORO on 7 Nov 1871 in Zajaczkowice, Parish of Pilzno, Galicia, Poland. Catharina was 16 years old from house 4 in Zajaczkowice, Joseph was 23 years old from house 20 in Leki. They immigrated to Nance County, Nebraska, USA. They are both buried in the Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, at Krakow in Nance County.

Joannes CZUBA married Hedwig MOZGOWICZ on 17 Nov 1880 in Zajaczkowic, Parish of Pilzno, Galicia, Poland. Joannes was 22 years old from house 4 in Zajaczkowice, Hedwig was age 24 from house 17 in Zajaczkowice.

Jan / Joannes SZTORC - Great Great Grandfather
Before his marriage to my GGGrandmother Marianna TWOREK, my GGGrandfather Joannes SZTORC was married to Marianna ZIMA, daughter of Adalbertus and Sophia TRAGARZOWNA ZIMA. Joannes was 24 years old, which gives 1794 as his approximate year of birth. I found 11 children born to Joannes and Marianna, nearly all of them died young. The cause of death for Marianna ZIMA SZTORC, who died at the age of 50, was "debilitas."

In April 2011 I received a note on Facebook from a woman who was researching a Chicago SZTORC family.  Lisa wrote that her partner Brenda's great grandfather was Jan SZTORC and that Jan was a son of Jan SZTORC and Mary nee TWOREK.  Her source was an undocumented Family Group sheet that an aunt had created some time back.  Ultimately, I did find proof that Brenda's and my Jan SZTORCs were the same man.  See Joannes / Jan / John SZTORC / STORC on the next page for more details.
