Thomas Fitzhugh & wife Ann to William Stewart 27 August 1810 Fauquier County, Virginia Deed Book 18, page 49-52 This Indenture made this 27th day of August in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and Ten Between Thomas Fitzhugh and Ann his wife of Stafford County of the one part and William Stewart of Fauquier County of the other part witnesseth that the said Thomas & Anne his wife in consideration of the sum of nine hundred and seventy five pounds lawful money of this Commonwealth to them in hand paid by the said William at or before the ensealing and delivery of these present, the receipt or hereof is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold and by these present do and each of them doth bargain and sell unto the said William his Heirs and Assigns a certain Tract of land lying and being in the County of Fauquier being the greater part of a Tract of Land devised to said Thomas by the late Thomas Fitzhugh of Stafford County Father to the said Thomas and bounded as followeth containing six hundred and fifty acres. Beginning at a Stone and two marked Laplins near the North bank of Cedar Run just above the dam of said Stewart, thence N 16 1/2 East 342 poles to a pile of stones thence N 73 1/2 W 198 poles to a large stone supposed to be the Burton line, thence with said line S 17 E 566 poles to the bank of Cedar Run, thence down said Run and bending therewith to the Beginning, together will all the singular houses, Buildings, orchards, Land, Tenements, woods, ways, water courses, fishry's parley profits Hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to the said Tract belonging or apputaing [?] or with the same used or enjoyed or belonging to the same or any part thereof and the reversion or reversions remainder or Remainders yearly and other rents issues and profits thereof and of every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold the said six hundred and fifty acres of Land with the Tenancy Hereditaments and all and singular the premises hereintofore mentioned or inserted to be bargained and sold and every part and parcel thereof with every of their rights members and appurtenances unto the said William his heirs and assigns forever to and for the only proper use behoof of him the said William his Heirs and Assigns forever. And the said Thomas and Anne his wife for themselves and their heirs the said Tract of six hundred and fifty acres of Land will all and singular premises and appurtenances before mentioned unto the said William his heirs and assigns free from the claim or claims of them the said Thomas and Ann his wife or either of them their Heirs, and of all and every person or persons whatsoever shall will and do warrant and forever defend by these present. Fitzhugh Gentlemen, Greeting, Whereas Thomas Fitzhugh and Anne Fitzhugh his wife by their certain Indenture of bargain and sale bearing date the 27th day of August 1810 have sold and conveyed unto William Stewart of the County of Fauquier a Tract of Land lying and being the said County containing six hundred and fifty acres and whereas the said Ann Fitzhugh cannot conveniently travel to our County Court of Stafford to make acknowledgments of the said conveyance. Therefore we do give unto you or any two or more of you power to receive the acknowledgment which the said Ann Fitzhugh shall be willing to make before you of the Conveyance afforesaid contained in the said indenture which is hereunto annexed and we do therefore command you that do personally go to the said Ann Fitzhugh and receive her acknowledgment of the same and examine her privately and apart from the said Thomas Fitzhugh
