Hi Sara,
I was just reviewing the copies of the Bible records that you sent and
comparing them to what I have in my file. The records have Hannah
McFeaters Bryan 'died Jan 16, 1875 in the sixty fourth year of her
age'. This is not correct. Her husband Nathaniel Bryan in his memoirs
does not give a specific date but writes that she died on a Sunday in
January 1873. He also says that she was in her 63 year. Further he
writes on regards his brief courtship with Lydia F. Woodbury:
"In 1873 on the 2nd of July about six months after my first wifes death
being advised by my Greensburg friends as well as the Session and Pastor
of the church I married Mrs. Lydia F. Woodbury of Greensburg the widow
of Wm. Woodbury who lost his life at the seige of Vicksburg leaving her
with four living children and little to help her along"
In the Bible record it looks like the 5 in 1875 is overwriting a 4. The
4 would have been correct if the 'sixty fourth year of her age' had been
correct. 1875 and 'the 64th year of her age do not go together. I
believe that Nathaniel knew when his wife died and that it was January
(probably the 16th) 1873.
Please advise if you find any other errors.
Regards............Ron
