Obituary of Wendell Holmes Shepard "Word was received here last week of the death of a former resident Wendell Holmes Shepard. Mr. Shepard passed away suddenly, August 20, 1961, at his home in Lockport at the age of 62. Born in Springwater Valley he grew up on the family farm on Boughton Hill Road, that is now operated by his son. Having attended the local schools he graduated form Honeoye Falls High School in 1919. While working at the Massey Harris plant in Batavia he met and married Harriet Radley in 1931. Besides his wife he dis survived by a son, James, a teacher in Honeoye Falls Central School; two daughters, Mrs. Doris Thormahlen, in Texas, Judith at home; three sisters, Mabel and Helen of North Bloomfield and Mrs. Mina Proper of Saratoga Springs, and a brother, Leslie, of Bradenton, Fla. Dr. John Proper is a nephew. Funeral services were held Saturday in Lockport with burial in North Bloomfield."
