Introduction
Welcome to JSB's Genealogy Site. I am J.
Scott Barnes, and this is my modest contribution to the tidal wave of online
family histories. Although my interest in genealogy runs back to
my childhood, it is just since the advent of the Web that I have begun
to do serious research. As you will see, my expertise is not in flashy
graphics, but rather down-to-earth facts, sources, and details.
So, take a look around. If you find something
of interest, don't hesitate to drop me
a line. Talking with fellow researchers is one of the great joys
of being on the Internet.

What's New

Aug 2006: |
- Updated database on mother's side for the first time in almost four
years. I'm starting to add cemetery photos and GPS coordinates from my
travels over the past seven years or so. Plus, I am slowing organizing
and uploading my ancestral photo collection. Here are direct links for
people whose personal, home, or gravestone pictures are available now:

Jun 2005: |
- Updated database on father's side with a load of new NUSBAUM information,
based on a recent visit to Chapel Lutheran Church Cemetery near Libertytown,
Maryland. I included all of the NUSBAUMs buried there, even those for
whom I have no ancestral connections...yet; more to come on this
point! There are also new tombstone photos and associated GPS
coordinates for several of my direct ancestors.

- Updated database on father's side with a load of new POOLE data.
Discovered that there were two Hanson POOLEs in Frederick County, Maryland,
both with fathers named William and both born in the 1821-1823 time frame
(whew!) I now believe that this Hanson
POOLE is my ancestor, while this Hanson
POOLE died at Andersonville as mentioned in an earlier update.
- New pictures from my father's side:
