                I am enclosing herewith copies of three letters, - two from Theresa Gauss to her brother Eugene in St. Charles, respectively 1845 and 1850, and one from C. F. G. to his son Eugene, dated 1846.  Of course to me they are interesting, and I should think they would have some value for your purpose because of the human and domestic side pictured in them; also because of the jubilee celebration described in the 1850 letter.
                I have your recent letter and note you will let me have your summer address, which I shall need in order to send you additional material.  As soon as I can will prepare a brief sketch of Eugene Gauss, including list of his descendants.
                I do not understand why you have not heard from Cousin William Gauss of Colorado Springs.  He has always been much interested in C. F. Gauss.  We have heard indirectly in recent months of illness in his family, his wife having had an operation I think.  However I shall write to him soon.  His cousin, and my uncle, Robert Gauss, was a bachelor and for many years an editorial writer on a Denver paper. At his death in 1913, I think he left some things to Cousin Will.
