U. McCluer - 1863-02-00

Dear Henry
                    Mother and aunt G as you call her have been at me to write to you for a long time but I have just made it out.  Curtis and Bos and also Susan have been going to school to aunt G in the front room for a good while.  aunt Ellen has a little boy she calls his name Edward Brown aunt Ellen was taken with a severe attack of apoplexys but after a while she got over it.  She is now well but still weak.  I have also had the sore eyes but have goten well enough to write this letter.  My eyes got sore on Christmas day so I did not have as much fun as i hope you had  we are all as well as usual.  Arther is generally cross because he is teething he cannot walk yet as I heard your little sister could but I believe he can because he has very good use of his legs.  Susan is geatly pleased with her new dress and wonders if it has a pocket in it and she says that she will love uncle Eugene if he will get her some more soap when this is all gone and it is all most gone now.
