"... A Petition of Edward Legge was presented to the House & read Setting forth as Vizt. That the Act Vesting the Ferry over Ashley River in Trustees for the use of Mrs. Elizabeth Elliott, Wife of Thos. Elliott, Expired many months Since. That the Petitioner two Months past undertook to Manage the said Ferry for which purpose he has Expended Some Money to Accomodate Travellers, that the Causey Leading to the said Ferry requires almost Constant Labour to render it passable, that the Petitioner is determined, if the Said Ferry is Vested in him, to Repair the Said Causey and Supply the Ferry with Suitable & proper Boats; therefore Prays that the said Ferry may be vested in him for 7 Years or for Such other Term as the House Shall Judge most Expedient by a Law for that Purpose. Order'd That the Petition be referred to the Consideration of the committee to whom the Petition of the Inhabitants of St. Andrews Parish is referred.
