I live about 14 miles from Abbeville and we have a lot of data at our Gen
Lib here. I am curious about your Reids since my g grandmother was a Reid.
According to the 1870 Greenville census, she was born in Ga.
Her father was Tom Reid, Mother's name unknown. She also had a brother,
name unknown.

Sometime shortly after the Civil War Willie Alice Reid and her family went
west from Greenville, SC by wagon train. Her parents were supposedly killed
by Indians and she and her brother were sent back to Greenville with a
returning wagon. Once there, she was adopted or took in by one person
(Satterfield) and her borther was taken in by another person and she never
saw him again. She told this story to my Mother who was her granddaughter.
She died when I was an infant. I sure would like to know how to find the
wagon train they left on and any other information which would give me a
great lead.

Let me know what you need and I will try and get it for you.
    Joye

| Does anybody have access to the Heritage of Abbeville County and would you
be willing to look up reference to George Reid for me? I live outside the
USA and have no access to any genealogical library.
| Thanks, Bob
