I'm curious about whether anyone knows the origin of the town's name.  I have 
a Bascom in my family line ... a first name ... but I'm guessing he is named 
after a family member with the surname Bascom.  A wild theory, unfounded on 
anything other than that several siblings seem to have been named after other 
surnames:  Dubose and Secor among them.

Just curious about the town's history.
