I gained a lot of insight from the class that I took through the school of Library Science at USC. Here is another tidbit from my notes for everybody interested in the subject: Section 107 of the Copyright law allows limited use of otherwise protected work, including the reproduction of portions of that work, without the copyright owner's approval. Fair use include the use of work "for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship or research." The fair use doctrine includes four basic factors to be considered: 1. The purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is for non-profit educational purposes. 2. The nature of the copyrighted work. 3. The amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole. 4.
