Try looking for the shorter or angelicised name 'Bass' . My Bass family
has tradition that it was a french name pronounced "La Bassier'" (or "La
Bassea" ('e' as in eel, and 'a' as in apple) if you're unaware of how to
pronounce an 'ier" in french...). Also maybe in your searches try La Bass
(space between)...
