The old 96 district consisted of Abbeville, Greenwood, Aiken, and Edgefield
Counties.
You may want to check census records in Merriwether Twp of Edgefield
County.  Merriwether may be named after one of your relatives.
I have not run across any of these names in my search, sorry.
