I've added two new items to my Civil War in South Carolina web site that may
be of interest.

The first is a list of 700 Confederate soldiers who died in Danville, VA
hospitals. The list contains the names and the unit of service for the men.
Some were from South Carolina, but all other southern states are also
represented. I've also found a couple of citations of Virginia citizens in
the list. At least half of these names which I have researched so far have
not been found on other published lists such as the Roll of Honor or Broken
Fortunes.

The second new feature also impacts many of the troops other than South
Carolina including Federal troops. This is a day by day account of Sherman's
march through South Carolina which extended from early January through March
9th, 1865. It was a hellish time of cold for the Federal forces as they
marched through the swamps of lower South Carolina in the dead of winter and
a hellish time of fire for the southern refugees as Sherman burned virtually
everything in his path. The article is entitled "66 Days of Hell".
